| Sheshequin Path Half & Walk for Our Buddies partnered to spread Down Syndrome Acceptance and Awareness Runners Buddy-Up! For FREE this year, runners can buddy with an individual with Down Syndrome to run for! If you'd like, you can request a specific Buddy. Otherwise our Buddy Coordinator will pair you up! Runners will receive a ribbon they can wear to show their support and a picture of the individual they're buddied with. |

The Walk for Our Buddies board met August 5th and made the difficult decision to convert the 2020 Walk
Event to a virtual ‘Walk Where You Are’ event. After much deliberation and consideration of the medical
vulnerability of those that we are walking to support, we determined that it was in everyone’s best interest
to alter our typical walk format. We want to turn the 2020 Walk into an opportunity to emphasize the
community awareness aspect of our mission statement by encouraging each team to walk with local family
and friends in their neighborhood.
We will coordinate the Event on Walk day, October 3rd from 9:00am-12:00pm and post live video, photos
and pre-recorded family stories on our Website and Facebook pages.
We will be offering our 2020 Basket Raffle online leading up to the event. Those who are interested, can
purchase tickets and make their selections online in advance and the winners will be drawn during the
virtual event on the 3rd.
The Walk for Our Buddies has created a 2020 WFOB face covering that will be sold through our WFOB
website. All proceeds from the Face coverings that are sold will go to fund the 2021 Walk for Our Buddies
Event.
Walk for Our Buddies will continue to pair with the Sheshequin Path Half Marathon, which will be held in
person, by offering the opportunity to Buddy-up, connecting runners and local individuals with Down
Syndrome. Runners are encouraged to post their run day videos and photos onto the Walk page and
share their experiences with their Buddies.
